DanceLandFM is an online dance station founded by Mark Archer in April 2008, with early inspiration from Jonathan Abbott at Elastic FM and Francis Pilkington at KitKat FM.

The station is built for listeners of every age, and we want you involved in everything we do.

Our approach is rooted in the offshore pirate radio era of the 1960s. We take particular inspiration from Paddy Roy Bates, who in 1965 established Radio Essex on Knock John, a Second World War Maunsell sea fort in the Thames Estuary. Radio Essex was the first pirate station to broadcast around the clock. In October 1966 it was renamed Britain’s Better Music Station (BBMS). After the station left the air, Bates occupied Roughs Tower — Fort Roughs, then beyond the United Kingdom’s territorial limit off the English coast — and in 1967 founded the Principality of Sealand.

That same idea still guides DanceLandFM: music without interruption, independent of a mainland timetable. We are on air 24 hours a day. Auto DJ keeps the biggest dance hits moving around the clock, alongside live presenters seven days a week.
